Your music, presence and warmth captured and engaged EVERY SINGLE PERSON in this mult-generation crowd throughout EVERY SINGLE MINUTE of the evening.  You totally nailed the balance!!  Not only did you take the crowd's breath away while on stage, you stunned Amy, Ben and me with the extent to which you took the time, energy and CARING to get inside of our heads and inside of Ben's head to put together the evening of song and celebration that we envisioned.
Michael Chartock, MA

    • Unlike many mitzvah parties that can feel ‘generic’ with the same DJ at every party and very little indication that a Jewish milestone has been achieved by the mitzvah boy or girl, Recht and Low provide an exceptional dimension, skillfully weaving a fun and meaningful Judaic element throughout the celebration.
    • Many DJs and live bands struggle to engage the wide variety of generations and religions present at a mitzvah celebration. Recht and Low specialize at engaging ALL generations, making kids, teens, and older adults feel comfortable and excited to participate.
    • Recht and Low are amazing at honoring and making the mitzvah boy or girl the superstar of the party in a way that is very comfortable, special, meaningful, and different from typical mitzvah celebrations.  Recht and Low create special ‘Milestone Moments’ (described below) throughout the celebration, giving friends and family a variety of fun and meaningful opportunities to participate on stage and honor the mitzvah boy or girl.

ROLES OF ARTIST IN MITZVAH CELEBRATIONS

As a rabbi, I've always wondered if the values families cherish so highly for their child's bar-mitzvah can be incorporated in the evening celebration in a fun and cool way.  Rick Recht is the answer to families in search of a party laden with Jewish values like joy, love, inspiration, gratitude, family, tradition, and genuine celebration.   Weekends and nights like our daughter's bat-mitzvah will only happen once. Thanks to Rick Recht's Saturday night Havdalah celebration, everyone who attended has another Jewish memory to treasure for a lifetime.
Rabbi Micah D. Greenstein, Senior Rabbi, Temple Israel, TN

Custom Celebration Design
Recht and Low are personally involved in the planning process for private events, helping to customize the Judaic elements of the celebration and make the event personal and meaningful for the mitzvah family and guests.  Through meetings with the mitzvah family, Recht and Low help to craft a dynamic, fun, and deeply meaningful experience.

Uniting Generations, Denominations, and Religions

This ability to unite and connect with people are truly Recht and Low’s trademark.  At almost all mitzvah celebrations, there are many people who are not Jewish or Jews who do not strongly identify with Judaism. There is also a wide spectrum of generations ranging from little kids to older adults.  Recht and Low’s unique styles of interaction skillfully honors the Jewish milestone of the mitzvah boy or girl while making everyone feel included and deeply engaged in every part of the celebration, whether they are Jewish or not Jewish, young or old.  Jewish elements of the celebration are presented in a way that is fun and meaningful to everyone regardless of their religious beliefs or background.

Master of Ceremonies
Recht and Low often serve as the Master of Ceremonies throughout the celebration, helping everyone to transition through the various sections of the party including the music, food, dancing, etc.

‘RockShop’ facilitator for Youth
Recht and Low will often lead interactive ‘RockShops’ with the mitzvah boy or girl and friends where they spend fun and intimate time with them teaching songs that they will soon be featured onstage with Recht or Low and the band during the celebration.  ‘RockShops’ often take place during hors d’oeuvres or after dinner while adults are still finishing their dinners.

Milestone Moments
Throughout the party, Recht and Low create what they call Milestone Moments that help unite all of the generations to make unforgettable memories. Here are some examples of Milestone Moments:

    • Havdalah

On Saturday nights, Recht and Low frequently lead a special interactive Havdalah service at the beginning of the mitzvah celebration bringing all attendees together to the center of the dance floor, arm in arm.  This unique Havdalah features the mitzvah boy or girl along with family and friends who share special, short personal readings under candlelight about why this mitzvah and day is so spectacular and meaningful.

    • Interactive, Band Music and Dance Set

Recht and Low feature family and friends who are amateur musicians and singers on stage with him and the band.  Youth and adults have a blast singing and performing on stage next to Recht or Low for their friends and families who absolutely love seeing their children, friends and parents on stage!

    • Family Dedication Song:

Recht and Low invite the mitzvah family on stage to share in one of their popular songs such as ‘Kobi’s Lullaby,’ 'Hinei,' or 'Y'varech'cha' as a blessing for the family. Family and friends gather close, have their arms around each other, and sing together with Recht or Low and the mitzvah family.  During the Family Dedication Song, a video montage slideshow including pictures of family and friends is projected onto the big screens.  (Optional package)

    • 13 Candles

Recht and Low add a very special dimension to the standard 13 Candles ceremony by providing live musical accompaniment with the mitzvah boy or girl lighting 13 separate candles to honor selected family members and friends.  During the 13 Candles, a video montage slideshow including pictures of family and friends is projected onto the big screens.  (Optional package)

    • Parent and Community Dedication Song

During this song, siblings share special thoughts about how proud they are of their mitzvah brother/sister.  After the siblings speak, the mitzvah boy or girl share special thoughts about how appreciative they are of parents and community.

    • Hora Dance

Recht and Low and their bands lead the celebration in an exciting hora (circle) dance, playing traditional hora songs with a fun, pop twist.  Often, the mitzvah boy or girl and family members will be hoisted on chairs in the center of the circle.

    • Friend Dedication Song:

During this song, friends of the mitzvah boy or girl share short, meaningful thoughts about their hopes for the future of their friend, the mitzvah boy or girl. The culmination of the song includes the mitzvah boy or girl sharing personal thoughts about her/his Jewish future.

    • Mitzvah Dedication Song

The Mitzvah Dedication song is a special song where, during the bridge of the song, siblings and friends of the mitzvah boy or girl read short, meaningful, original readings of appreciation to the mitzvah boy or girl.  The culmination of the song includes the mitzvah boy or girl reading a short, original reading of dedication to family and friends.

FAQS

I wanted to write a note to thank you Rick and your band for playing at the twins B'not Mitzvah.  It was important to our family to have a strong spiritual presence and keep the reception exciting and stimulating at the same time.  Especially since quite a number of the families attending were not Jewish. Your enchanting and creative music gave us more than we could ever have asked for in terms of bringing everyone together spiritually.   Many friends today listen to your CD's, Jews and non-Jews alike, but tell me how honored they were to attend the reception and feel your magical connection.  What a precious memory you have given my girls.
